(TIML NEWS) An Alabama barber by the name of Isaac White, Sr. just may know more about shape-ups than the flyest young barber that you know today.
The 97-year-old Mississippi native has been cutting heads since 1944, back when he’d first began his journey as a barber and business man with his first chair in a shoe shining parlor.
As Mr. White’s business began to thrive and grow, he’d come across lots of young people that were interested in his craft. So, in the 1960’s, the barbering legend established the first Barber College in Mobile, Alabama that was absolutely free.
The free courses are what provide students with a license to barber once they have completed their program (under the conditions that a job is later secured).
White made a debut feature in Allstate’s “Worth Telling” campaign, which is known to pay homage and tribute to black change-makers that have set the standard throughout Black History Month.
However, this campaign isn’t the first to recognize White as one of the major powerhouse businessmen to give young black boys a voice.
He also has a street named after him in his town, which was established back in 2015.
So, what are your thoughts on this news? Do you wish there were more men out there just like him who gave young black men a chance to better themselves?
Check out the video and comment your thoughts below.
